It is time for a little house keeping.
Many of these pieces are sketches or preliminary ideas for larger pieces. From my obsession of barnacles of the west coast, the playful ideas around stitching and perforations, and nautical charts as back drops and grid works, This shop is the place to find these early iterations of more involved works.

All pieces will be shipped through Canada Post within Canada. Each piece will be sent with recycled and reused cardboard and acid free interleaving. If you are outside of Canada, please contact me regarding additional shipping costs. I send pieces out every Friday of the week that the pieces are purchased.

Each piece I sell, 10% will be donated to Friends of the Blue Mountains Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area as my way of giving back to my community and the place I live. You can find more about this group and their efforts in securing a corridor of land as an Urban National Park on their website.

Barnacle Sketches : A while back I had a love affair - with barnacles, and drew them obsessively. I made prints of them, and larger drawings punctuated with little stitches and filled sketchbooks with notes about them. These tiny creatures live their lives in various different physical states before settling down to build their limestone castles to rocks, wharves, ships, or whales. Watch them carefully and you will see their tiny cirri slip out and scoop food from the water. I am adding these small drawings to the flat files shop. Each small 8" x 10" graphite drawing is a study of two sides of the same small rock from British Columbia's Thetis Island - a magical place I visited with friends one summer. That summer, we would swim in the tide filled pools of water under the starry night with balls of phosphorescence at our feet, then wake up to see what the receding tide had revealed for us and in the morning light we would play among the gurgling life of barnacles, oysters, starfish on the sea bed. That summer my boys named the summer of awesomeness.

Visual Collecting Studies : These small drawings are studies from the my visual collecting in Nova Scotia.They are of small objects put in my pockets on walks and brought home to study. They are beginning thoughts into our connection and entanglement with the natural world around us, how we are all tethered to places we have been through memories and actions. When we move through a place (walk, paddle, swim) we gather parts of it, and leave parts of ourselves behind.
