Installation at Anna Leonowens Gallery, Halifax, Nova Scotia
lightness of being(s) focuses on a specific physical space, the Blue Mountain Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area, and my experiential gathering there that culminated in a visual output of unfolding love letters and poetics built with a vocabulary of local epiphytes and orchids, ferns and spring blossoms. This imagery was scribed into copper plates and printed on silk gampi tissues. Installed in a gallery the works gently and quietly interact with the viewers movements- papers flutter from stitched open frames, sway and almost breathe as they are caught in air currents of passerbys and beg to be held and pages turned.
