Albert Camus The Myth of Sisyphus
This diptych came out of the readings of Albert Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus and his philosophy of the absurd, That human need know, and the knowing that we will never know, one's role, one's purpose, simultaneously, gives space to find pleasure in the purity of the moments of searching. Within the diptych, the intrinsic duality of the two is depicted within the two etchings. One, the well crafted line, illustrates the life that searches for meaning and purpose, it is etched into our dna to find patterns and connections. It is juxtaposed with the wild wonderings of meaningless line and movement, pointing to the universe's inability to confirm that purpose but still, at times becoming the more beautiful of the two.
